How to Reduce Image File Size for Email Attachments
Why emails fail
Large photo attachments can hit email size limits or take a long time to upload. Photos from modern phones are often much larger than needed for review, approval, or documentation.
Resize first
If the recipient only needs to view the image on screen, resize the photo before compressing it. A width around 1200 to 1800 pixels is often enough for normal review while reducing file size dramatically.
Keep originals
Send compressed copies and keep originals stored safely. This prevents accidental quality loss when the full-resolution file may be needed later for print, editing, or records.
How PixelXTrim can help
After you understand the format, size, or quality decision, use PixelXTrim to test the change on a copy of your image. Preview the result, download it, and check the final file in the place where it will be published.
